R22 Phase Out

For owners of R22 air conditioning systems you need to know the following;

R22 gases are now banned in new air conditioning equipment.  However any air conditioning system over 10 years old will contain R22 refrigerant.

On 1st January 2015, any air conditioning system containing R22 will become unserviceable.  This means it will be illegal to repair it, should the system breakdown.

There are more modern air conditioning systems using complex gases which are ozone friendly and help save money in the long run through energy consumption of up to 70 % savings.  These newer systems are up to 60% more energy efficient than the older R-22 systems. So, the easiest and most efficient way of dealing with R-22 gas systems is to replace the equipment. Spreading the cost from now up until January 2015 will help soften the blow to your company, however, you will be legally compliant with the latest legislation.

Does your air conditioning contain R22 refrigerant gas?  If so, you need to start looking at replacing the equipment with modern, energy efficient systems. Please contact us if you are unsure and we can help.
